Water: Video

Baptism is our birth into the church as a whole, and we enter these baptismal waters again when we physically enter the worship space. When I begin to enter the chapel and put my fingers in the holy water stoop, then make the sign of the cross, I have this experience of going through the veil. It’s an experience of entering into the baptismal waters of death and birth; saying that the preoccupations, worries, thoughts, and feelings that might be a distraction are dying in this entrance into God’s time, into the time of prayer and worship, and in this entrance into the Christian community.

Thankful for this video! Times I have had the opportunity to stay at the monastery, I noticed how well the Brothers got along. Currently I am taking care of my 90 year old mom and my 60 year old brother is residing in her hhome with us. All of the discussion on friction was very important to me as I watched the video. I have an endless opportunity to apologize compromise and negotiate in my home environment. I didn’t see it that way until I watched this video!

    Brothers,
Thank you for these beautifully crafted messages. I will be viewing Water again this week—-there is so much contained here!

Am I the only one to notice the direct application to today’s reality under the threat of the Coronavirus that we wash our hands with water? I doubt it. This video could not be more timely! I was struck by the Weekly Practice suggestion to observe the water as it washes over my hands. I will now do that. This whole video series is so well done, and I love that I can partake of the daily studies on my time and in privacy. Thank you for producing this and making it free and available to the public.
